Wow, blogging is complicated

I'll keep this short, since I'm at work and that means I should be thinking up profound statements about blogging, rather than sitting here on our first snowy day of the year, blogging.

I am trying to start Becoming Write-Handed as a new blog. So I optimistically upgrade my Typepad membership and start the process.  I choose a layout, a theme, a color palette, and a new photo. I get all the way to the part about choosing my domain name, and bam!  This gets hard.

I want becomingwritehanded.com to be my new blog.  But Typepad doesn't actually allow me to buy that domain name. I have to buy it somewhere else and point it to Typepad, or I have to end my relationship with Typepad and start a new site on host site like BlueHost that will also support blogging.

I am turning 2-3 hours of computer headache into 2-3 paragraphs, and making it look pretty.

Anyway, just know that I am working on it, and I am overwhelmed, and I really, really want to launch my new pet project ASAP but it's taking me a little while.

Thanks,
Marti

Thank goodness a young person has admitted to having trouble doing what seemed like a simple task on the computer. I don't feel quite so much like I belong with the dinosaurs. I was thinking about starting my own blog about getting older, but now I may just re-think the whole idea and stick to writing copius emails.

Love U, Aunt Jean

Marti, So glad to hear progress is being made, will the new blog be for both Steve and Marti, or just yours? Tell aunt Jean I said hi,-Later-Dad

Hi there!
I'm in the same boat as Aunt Jean -- dinosaurs of the Internet Age! They say you can find anything in the Internet, but it's worse than a maze. When is somebody going to simplfy this thing?
Please don't give up, Marti. We just love your blog, no matter what it's name is.
Love, Gail.

My Photo

Becoming Left-Handed

  • The moment my best friend of 6 years and boyfriend of exactly 365 days slipped a diamond ring on my finger in late 2006, my world changed. When the ring went to the jeweler for a fitting a few days later, my left hand suddenly felt naked without a ring that hadn't even been mine for a week!

Throughout the next 13 months, the process of transitioning from independent single girl to committed wife literally felt, at times, like switching from right- to left-handed.

Our wedding day was the happiest of my life. This blog tells my story of getting to that day. I hope you find part of your story here, too.
