It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Fall

Last fall, when Steve and I had just gotten engaged we hadn't even set a wedding date, I would walk around stores like Jo-Ann Fabrics or Michael's and just revel in the gorgeous colors. When we set our date for a fall wedding, I had to resist the urge to buy every autumn decoration in sight.

Well, my resistance is over! We are working on the decor for the ceremony and reception, and the stores have complied by displaying all their fall tones and foliage-inspired wares even though it's only July.

It is so much fun to walk into those stores and be surrounded in real life by the colors and themes that I have been dreaming of for the last 11 months! I don't want the summer to end, but I find myself thinking that soon the nights will be cooler and the air will get that atumn smell and before we know it (81 days from now) we'll be getting married. Some days I am so excited I don't know how I'll wait that long!

Countdown?

After several stressful weeks, Steve and I have been forcing ourselves to chill out and have more fun, and spend less time worrying about the wedding.  So, we've been to Cedar Point, the movies, happy hour, and hiking in the Hocking Hills.

We got so caught up in the fun of just being what my mother calls "young and in love,"  we missed the 100-day mark.

We're at 98 days today. And with the sun shining and nothing but fun plans for this weekend, it's not nearly as stressful as you might think.

At this point I'm just deliriously excited.  I can't wait for all this fun to come true in October!

Becoming Left-Handed

  • The moment my best friend of 6 years and boyfriend of exactly 365 days slipped a diamond ring on my finger in late 2006, my world changed. When the ring went to the jeweler for a fitting a few days later, my left hand suddenly felt naked without a ring that hadn't even been mine for a week!

Throughout the next 13 months, the process of transitioning from independent single girl to committed wife literally felt, at times, like switching from right- to left-handed.

Our wedding day was the happiest of my life. This blog tells my story of getting to that day. I hope you find part of your story here, too.
